A series of digital studies focusing on hand poses, created with Sargent's Oils brush pack in Procreate on iPad — a digital brushset modeled after the works of the Realist painter John Singer Sargent. This collection explores the intricacies of hand anatomy, gesture, and expression through a variety of poses, each designed to convey different emotions and actions.
Artistic Exploration
The studies were developed to enhance understanding of hand anatomy and improve gesture drawing skills. Each pose was carefully selected to represent a range of emotions and actions, from relaxed to tense, open to closed, and expressive to neutral.
Speedpaints
This speedpaint collection showcases the process of creating each hand pose study. The videos demonstrate the layering technique used to build up texture and detail, as well as the brushwork that mimics traditional oil painting.
