Artistic Approach

This project began with extensive study of Van Gogh's brushwork technique and color choices across multiple self-portraits. Specific Procreate brushes were utilized to mimic the texture and behavior of Van Gogh's physical brushstrokes, with particular attention to his characteristic swirling patterns and impasto technique while also maintaining my own artistic interpretation.

Process and Technique

Specific Procreate brushes were utilized to mimic the texture and behavior of Van Gogh's physical brushstrokes, with particular attention to his characteristic swirling patterns and impasto technique while also maintaining my own artistic interpretationThe painting was developed in layers, starting with a rough sketch to establish composition and proportions. Subsequent layers focused on building up color and texture, using a variety of Procreate brushes to replicate the feel of traditional oil painting.
The final piece reflects a blend of Van Gogh's emotional intensity and my own artistic interpretation, resulting in a unique homage to one of the most influential artists in history.
