A detailed recreation of a classic still life painting featuring a flower vase with a statuette, executed in oil paint on canvas. This piece demonstrates traditional painting techniques including color mixing, layering, and brushwork to capture the subtle interplay of light and shadow on complex organic and inorganic forms.
Artistic Process

As I am not very familiar with oil paints, I started by testing different types of oil paints to find the right texture and consistency for the painting. This process involved mixing various colors and applying them to a test canvas to evaluate their behavior.

The painting was created using traditional oil paints on a canvas. The choice of medium allowed for rich color depth and texture, enhancing the overall visual impact of the piece, while epxloring the unique qualities of oil paint.

The painting process involved a series of steps, starting with a detailed sketch to establish composition and proportions. Subsequent layers focused on building up color and texture, using a variety of brush techniques to replicate the feel of traditional oil painting. The final touches included highlights to enhance depth and luminosity.

The final piece reflects a blend of traditional techniques and personal interpretation, resulting in a unique homage to classic still life painting.
Technical Challenges
The project presented several technical challenges, particularly in achieving the desired texture and color depth with oil paints. The slow drying time of oil paints required careful planning and layering to avoid muddy colors and maintain clarity in the final piece.
